PHoenix: A Benefit concert for Music School in Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia
A fundraising concert to support a Music School in Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia, which suffered big losses in a fire. Premieres of chamber orchestra works by Darcy Cole and Tomos Jones. Featuring Nina Kohout.
8pm on 6th April 2025. St Catherine’s School, Bramley.
In March 2023, a fire spread in Banská Štiavnica, a UNESCO town in Slovakia, destroying a number of historical buildings, including the home of the Music School. While the financial support given to the town goes towards reconstruction of the original building of the Music School, the school lacks financial support to replace damaged instruments, material, and to subsidise its move to different locations.
This Music School needs our support because it provides irreplacable affordable specialist education in all performing arts to children and young people from across the local area. Dedicated teachers bring up generations of talented creatives and put on events for the whole community.
We supported this wonderful school by raising money from ticket sales at a unique concert of new music and new arrangements, accompanied by immersive projections. You can still support the school by donating on the button below, and a video recording of the concert will be sent to you. Alongside supporting the school, you will be also supporting upcoming composers, singers, players and designers involved in this performance. You can find out more about some of them here and on our Instagram page.
